Home Office Design: Reality Bites
This probably won’t be the last moodboard you see for our eventual home office - God knows how many iterations we’re going to go through before finalizing our furniture and layout choices - but being able to post them here with a narrative is actually really helpful for thinking through everything.
I still like the theory behind my original design, but upgrading to a wider desk to accomodate an external monitor means we’ll need to rotate the chaise so the room doesn’t feel too cramped. And, because of that, I want a chaise that doesn’t have a full arm/back along the long side so the window isn’t blocked. I absolutely love to one I found from Joybird - and it definitely looks like a good spot to curl up for a nap!
There isn’t room for a cabinet next to the desk anymore because the new desk is 9” wider than the one in my first floor plan, but I can put a larger side table next to the chaise that will serve as office storage. And Jon approves of the desk and nightstand I showed him from Joss and Main, so that’s success.
I still like the floor lamp I’d added to my collage, and I added a coordinating sconce to go above the nightstand and choose a gold wall shelf with a swooped top to echo the curve of the lighting pieces rather than the two floating shelves I’d had before. The gold side table I’d included before will find a place in another room (since we already own it), but I still like the look of this rug and a classic bamboo Roman shade along with the vintage Captain’s chair I use in the guest room currently. So here we have it… for now!
